A treasure of quirky luxuries that make our everyday special
"Everyday Special" is about a way of living - it is about a lifestyle. The way in which we put our things together and the purposes for which we use them is what makes them special. It is our unique perspective that takes our treasures into the realm of the extraordinary. We have been called "quirky" - and to us, that is special!
Me and My Blog
In 2005 when I was imagining a tagline for my store, New Orleans Custom Linens, I decided that"Make Everyday Special" was perfect because that is what we were doing through the things we offered for sale and the help we delivered to our friends and customers.
After Hurricane Katrina when I moved the store to Baton Rouge where I lived, I renamed it New Orleans At Home. My emphasis changed from a concentration on linens to showcasing all things for the home that evoke memories of New Orleans.
I still believe that eveything we acquire for use in our homes and lives should make "everyday special." Not just the everyday things that we use, but "every day" should be special. So much of what we have and use in New Orleans has always done just that, and now I can experience it no matter where home is for me.
I decided to write this blog so that I could share some of the things that make my everyday special and that connect me to my old hometown either through memory, use, or design. I hope that you enjoy reading the pages here and that you will feel free to join in the convesation - that would help make this day special for me!
